I would like to request an enhancement to the OUS program to include a Hide function that allows selected items, lines, and symbols to be hidden within a saved view.

The functionality should enable users to hide specific elements from multiple levels without having to turn off or hide an entire level. Ideally, the hidden elements would be linked to the individual saved view, allowing different saved views to contain different combinations of visible and hidden items depending on drawing and design requirements.

A corresponding Unhide function would also be required, allowing users to restore hidden elements or modify the hidden item selection as design requirements change.

A key requirement of this functionality is that the visibility settings remain linked to the saved view rather than the individual element properties. Hidden or visible items should retain their status even after modifications are made, including changes to element properties or conversion of elements to SmartSolids. This would prevent users from having to recreate hide settings each time a design change is made and would provide a more robust and efficient workflow.

In addition, a Reveal Hidden function would be highly beneficial. This feature would temporarily display all hidden elements within the active saved view, with hidden items shown in a different colour or semi-transparent state. This would allow users to easily identify which elements are currently hidden and selectively unhide items when required.

This enhancement would provide a significantly simpler and more efficient process than the current use of Named Groups. While Named Groups can achieve a similar outcome, they require considerable setup and ongoing management for a task that should be relatively straightforward.

After researching available Bentley products, it appears that ProStructures already includes Hide/Unhide functionality. Implementing similar capabilities within OUS would deliver substantial productivity improvements for users creating and managing drawing views, reduce setup time, and improve design workflow efficiency.
