More than one file open at a time

Hi,

I believe we cannot open more than one file in Substation due to our integration with ProjectWise.
This results in great loss of productivity and ease.
Instead, we have to open a file/s in read-only from ProjectWise in a different application like MicroStation.

Thanks

Jess

indeed, using the shift key you can open multiple sessions, you can also use the open in new session option from the reference files if you want to open a page that is attached as a references. since we split our HV fields in multiple pages and assemble them later it is very usefull to open more than 1 OUS session

    best regards

Opening multiple files will result in multiple software sessions running at the same time. While this is possible, it is not a recommended best practice as each session consumes additional cpu and memory. Thus, you could experience a degrade in software performance depending on model size and hardware.

If you are doing this to copy substation elements from one substation page to another, you can attach reference and copy items from reference to active file. Can you provide additional details why you want to open multiple substation files at same time?

Update - We can now suddenly open more than one file in Substation now from ProjectWise using the common method of holding the shift key down when selecting a file to open.
We cannot open more than one file from Project Manager though.
Is there any impact opening files and working on them from ProjectWise, rather than Project Manager?
